Item Description

Here is a rarely seen AMF Tournament bowling pin.  My childhood buddy worked as a pin boy at the now gone Green Acres Bowling Alley in Valley Stream, NY.  To the best of my recollection, he gave it to me around 1962 or 1963.  It saw plenty of use, so I know it was not new at the time.  The 1959 to 1962 age shown above is strictly an educated guess on my part.  I know nothing about bowling pins, except that I haven't seen one exactly like this on eBay.

The side of the pin with the blue ABC insignia is in beautiful shape and more white in color than the red emblem side.  Also less marks on it.  A perfect side to display.  It has a red stamping on neck stating "C85279".

As you can see in photo, the red emblem side shows horizontal crack marks and dark blemishes.  This is the side that always faced front when set up on the lane.  It has the rarely seen "Tournament" in red (I'm sorry to say that I accidentally took off some of the paint in this word when once cleaning the pin with polish).  It states "plastic coated, nylon reinforced, control wt, permit no 42".  Also in tiny print "founded 1895".  I'd say the red emblem side of the pin is actually a bit yellower in person, as opposed to the way it looks in the photo.

This is truly a VINTAGE pin of nearly 50 years old.  I had it on a display shelf for the past 45/46 years.
